• Following Jonathan’s death in 1903 the business continued under the direction of his sons, John and George and subsequently John after George’s death in 1942.
• John Alcock’s daughter Sylvia married Robert (Bob) Parker and he became head of the firm when John died in 1961.
• The building work ceased in 1977 whilst the funeral business which has expanded steadily over the years continues to progress independently under the care of the present owner Chris Parker who joined the firm on leaving school in 1963.
• In 2004 Chris Parker’s daughter Sarah joined the business and later qualified as a funeral director in 2007.
• In 2005, Jonathan Alcock & Sons Ltd took over George Hill Funeral Directors in Hazel Grove after many years of working alongside the then owner Keith Beard.
• In 2013 Jonathan Alcock & Sons celebrated 150 years of service.
• In 2014, Jonathan Alcock & Sons Ltd, underwent a huge transformation of the original preparation and mortuary area, modernising and improving the way we operate and the services we provide for our families.
• In 2018 Sarah Parker attained the position of Director, therefore becoming the 5th generation of the family to take the business forward.
• In 2019 the company reacquired land at the back of the premises on Hall Street, the joinery yard, and are in the process of drawing up plans to enhance and modernise the facilities.
