Meet Caroline Clegg – Funeral Celebrant
Meet Dr Caroline Clegg and discover why becoming a funeral celebrant is such a meaningful privilege. With love, gentleness and respect, Caroline works...

If you practice a particular religion, you may prefer the Minister, Priest or Pastor from your Church. It is important to note that Churches often have more restrictions regarding who can lead the service, normally requiring the incumbent Minister or Vicar of the Church. However, there is no such restrictions when a service is held at a Cemetery Chapel or Crematorium.
For those who do not belong to a specific Church or are non-religious, a Funeral Celebrant could be a suitable option. Celebrants are skilled in preparing and conducting non-religious services, whilst also having the flexibility to incorporate religious elements, such as the Lords Prayer or hymns.
You also have the option for a family member or friend to lead the service.
Regardless of your choice, your Funeral Director will assist you in securing your preferred individual. We work with a number of wonderful Ministers and Celebrants whom we can recommend, and our experienced Funeral Directors will strive to match you with the right person.
Should you choose a Minister or Celebrant, their role is to work closely with you to gain a deep understanding of your loved one – learning about their life, history, family, career and hobbies – to ensure the service is truly personal to you and your loved one.

Additionally, a family member or friend may want to speak at the Funeral, (without leading the service) to deliver the eulogy, read a poem, or share a cherished memory. This is an option, and we can work with your Minister or Celebrant to accommodate this. You can read more about how to write a Eulogy here.
The choice of which Minister or Celebrant is entirely yours; our Funeral Directors are there to offer recommendations and facilitate introductions if you wish, allowing you to decide if they are right for you (please note this is subject to their availability).
