19 Dec Our Monthly Bereavement Support Group
We all cope with bereavement in different ways, and there is no set pattern to grief.
On the first Tuesday of every month, Alcocks and Hills hold our Bereavement Support Group from 10 am til noon at Hazel Grove Baptist Church, Station Street, Hazel Grove SK7 4EX.
Our group aims to provide a warm, welcoming, and safe environment in which to sit down and enjoy a hot drink and cake while listening and sharing with those who are also bereaved.
It is always such a heartwarming morning; there is honesty, vulnerability, laughter, and joy as we share and remember our lost loved ones.
Whether you have used our funeral services or not, everyone is welcome to our Bereavement Support Group. Everyone who joins us, whether our 15-plus regulars or the new faces we welcome each week, has their own bereavement and grief experiences.
Our Group has been running for over three years now. It was started in late 2021 by Katie, who many will know managed our George Hill Funeral Directors. The group has proved to be a valuable resource for the families we have served and anyone who has suffered a loss and wants to talk to people who know what they are going through without judgement.
Sarah, our director or a team member, plus Mark Paddon, the Assistant Minister at Hazel Grove Baptist Church, will always be there.
We are so proud of what a friendly, supportive and welcoming group it is. We have those who have been coming since the beginning, and we welcome new members each week; friendships begin and grow to meet outside of the group, we’ve hosted special guests from local charities, and we enjoy the company of our furry companions from time to time.
One of our lovely members said recently,
I look forward to coming each month as I feel like it’s the only place I can just be a ‘bereaved person’ and not worry about upsetting other people because I’m talking too much about my grief.
