Meet Heidi Sanderson – Funeral Celebrant

I’m Heidi, a professionally trained funeral celebrant based in Stockport, supporting families across Stockport, Cheshire and Greater Manchester.

I was born and brought up in Stockport, and although my life and career have taken me to many different places over the years, this has always been home.

Before becoming a celebrant, I spent many years working within a corporate environment. My work involved bringing people together, coordinating complex projects, and communicating with people from many different backgrounds across the world. I learnt how to listen carefully, remain calm under pressure and support people through stressful and sometimes challenging situations. These are all skills I now bring to my work as a celebrant.

For the past eight years, I have also owned and run a yoga and Pilates studio in Stockport. Through the studio, I have had the privilege of meeting and getting to know a huge number of people from across Stockport, Cheshire and Greater Manchester. It has become a very special community and a place where people can step away from the pressures of everyday life, take an hour for themselves and go home feeling better than when they arrived.

I have always been a people person. I genuinely enjoy meeting people, listening to them and learning about their lives. As a funeral celebrant, it is an honour to spend time with a family, learn about the person they have lost and be trusted to share their story.

I believe that no two funeral services should ever be the same, because no two people are the same. Every life is unique, and a funeral should reflect the personality, relationships, experiences and little details that made that person who they were.

As your celebrant, I will take the time to listen, ask questions and gently discover the memories and stories that will help me understand your loved one. Through my passion for writing and storytelling, I will work closely with you to create a warm, personal and meaningful tribute that truly reflects their life.

Like most families, my own has experienced wonderful celebrations, new beginnings, profound loss and some incredibly difficult times. These experiences have given me a real appreciation of how important the milestones in our lives can be, why the way we mark them matters and how valuable the right support can feel during times of grief.

I am trained and certified by the Academy of Professional Celebrants, achieving a Certificate of Distinction in Celebrancy, and I bring care, preparation and professionalism to every ceremony I conduct.
