Sentimental Keepsakes
Many families seek to preserve fingerprints and/or hair cuttings of their loved ones as cherished mementos. For those who are grieving, these items offer a tangible connection to the dearly departed.
At Alcocks/Hills, we can assist you with this. We have recently acquired specialised equipment that enables us to capture high-resolution fingerprints of your loved ones.
These prints can be delicately made into personalised memorial jewellery (see Daisy Imprints or Laalie below) or you could beautifully frame them alongside a photo of your loved one, or with dried flowers from floral tributes.
Additionally, we can assist in taking small hair cuttings of your loved one. A lock of hair holds significant personal meaning and can provide comfort during the grieving process and beyond.
Typically, we take a small lock of hair from a discreet area, such as the back of the head. This lock can be safely preserved in memorial jewellery, glass keepsakes, or sealed chamber pieces designed for long-term protection. Unlike many keepsakes, hair does not decompose like other organic materials. Under the right conditions, a lock of hair can remain intact for well over a century.
