14 Jan Meet Neil Rowland – Funeral Celebrant
My interest in becoming a Celebrant was triggered by writing and delivering a eulogy for my late Dad. A wonderful man who I was determined to give a send off that he deserved.
I loved the process and encouraged by my wonderfully supportive friends and family, I made the decision to start my training as a Celebrant in 2021.
I have now been working as a Funeral Celebrant since March 2022 and I have found it to be everything I enjoy, as not only a job but a vocation as well.

Writing a story/eulogy about someone I have never met has been hugely satisfying. I trained at Drama school for 3 years and have done various Stage and TV work. These experiences allow me to use those skills when meeting with the families and encouraging them to tell me stories of their lives and what they would like to be remembered by is such a privilege as well as being cathartic for the families to reminisce about their loved ones.
Listening and building up a relationship with the family is key and is something I pride myself on doing well.
I am very happy to take services that ask for religious content, Lord’s Prayer, Bible readings and Hymns.
Based in Cheshire near Stockport, I’m well located to cover the Greater Manchester region as well as Cheshire and other surrounding areas.
Having worked as an Actor, Teacher and in Hospitality gives me the self-confidence and the ability to adapt to any situation. Combined with my genuine love of meeting new people, even when at their most vulnerable makes me well placed for the role of Celebrant.
I feel I have found my true calling as a Celebrant and my aim is to make sure the family and the deceased are given the celebration of life that is deserved. I pride myself on my sensitivity and compassion, the needs and wants of the bereaved families will always be my number one priority.
