Bereavement Support

Everyone experiences grief in their own way, and we all cope with bereavement differently.

Grief can cause a range of feelings including sadness, anger, relief, guilt, emptiness, and loneliness.

Each person’s journey through grief is unique; there is no right or wrong way to grieve, no time limit on your grief, and no set way to grieve. It is a deeply personal experience and a completely natural process.

Many people find comfort and support through family and friends, or by reaching out to specialist organisations.

You can download our support leaflet here or explore additional resources below.

Bereavement Support Group

Our Bereavement Support Group meets on the first or Tuesday of every month from 10am till 12noon, in the Cafe area of Hazel Grove Baptist Church.

Our free support group is open to anyone who is bereaved and seeks a safe, welcoming environment to share, talk and listen with others who may know more of what you are going through.

Each month, we typically we welcome around 15 to 20 friendly faces – with both regular members and newcomers joining us at each session.

If you have experienced a loss and would like to attend, you can drop in anytime between 10.00am and 12.00 noon, or stay for the whole session. There is no need to let us know beforehand, you can simply turn up. Sarah from Alcocks/Hills and Joan from the Church will be there to greet you.

We provide warm drinks and sweet treats.

There is ample parking available at the rear of the Church, and fully-accessible facilties are provided.

Everyone is welcome, whether you have previoulsy used our services or not.

You can find the dates for all our groups here, or for further information please contact us on 0161 428 2097 or adminteam@jasfunerals.co.uk.

SAIF Care

As part of our continued commitment to caring for bereaved families, we have teamed up with the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) to offer further support and advice to the families we serve.

As a member of this trade association, SAIF Care allows us to provide our families with exclusive access to a free bereavement care helpline and an online chat service, both of which are staffed by trained bereavement specialists.

The SAIF Care team is there to offer a listening ear and give reliable information about a range of help and services available near you.

Each person’s bereavement journey is unique and there’s no right or wrong way to grieve. If you feel that you are struggling following the death of someone close, please use the contacts below and get the support you need.
