Did you know we offer student work placements?

We are so pleased we were able to host Summer and Aurora at our Funeral Homes for their work experience placements in April & May this year.

Both students attend Cheadle College, where they are studying Health and Social Care.

Over the last five weeks, they have gained invaluable experiences and insights across all of our teams. Their activities included shadowing our Funeral Directors during arrangements and services, assisting the Admin Team with stock taking and auditing, and providing support to the Funeral Operatives.

We have all been really impressed with their contributions; they were both fully engaged in the experience and made a real impact during their time with us.

My placement experience at Jonathan Alcocks & Sons by Summer Stewart

It has been an absolute privilege to complete my placement with Jonathan Alcock & Sons. Being 18, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when I first started, but I felt so proud to learn from a business with such a long-standing history and heritage in the community since 1863.

The team welcomed me like I always belonged and made me feel like nothing was ever an issue. Every single member of staff had time for me, always answering my questions and making me feel incredibly supported.

I have learned so much during my time here, and I am so grateful for how much the team let me experience and the knowledge I’ve gained.

The care and dedication the team shows to local families during their hardest times is nothing but phenomenal.

Getting to attend the Bereavement Support Group and an industry event gave me a proper understanding of just how much heart goes into this job.

This experience has completely confirmed for me that this is the career path I want to pursue, and I know I want to dedicate my future to the funeral and bereavement industry.

I absolutely loved my time with the team, and I would love the opportunity to return and work with them all again in the future.
